“CAST FLOORS EXPERIENCE BREAKTHROUGH”
WEST FLANDERS

A brand new company building, a separate name for its own installation company and the expansion of an international partner network: these are busy times for Liquidfloors. The Zwevegem-based producer and installer of cast floors for the residential market is experiencing a surge and wants to continue this momentum in the future. "We want to become the European market leader in our niche segment," CEO Miguel Garcia is ambitious.
Miguel Garcia founded Liquidfloors 13 years ago. "This business grew out of my previous company, which focused on total furnishing. We immediately wanted to specialise in cast floors for living and working environments, but in function of that we had to completely reinvent our product. Once we had found the right 'formulations', we did all the installations ourselves. When it was no longer possible to do it all ourselves via Flooristic (the new name of our own installation company, nvdr), we also started working with certified installers'.
WALK-IN SHOWERS AND STAIRS
Currently, the company has such partners in Slovakia, Norway and Finland. Those people sell our products and also install them. To be able to do that, we first gave them thorough training. Commercialisation is improving, as more people are realising the numerous advantages of seamless floor systems: they are very soothing, show off furniture and decoration to their best advantage and are very easy to maintain. Nowadays, cast floors are also very popular for walk-in showers and for stairs." However, the commercial department initially faced many challenges to get the concept across. "It was soon clear that classical architects were not waiting for this right away. Innovative architects had already experimented with epoxy floors, but these were not suitable for residential use. After a great deal of extensive promotional efforts and thanks to a growing number of high-profile projects (including 'Salmon Eye' in Norway, an art gallery in Paris and numerous Belgian realisations), it is now catching on like wildfire and we are even receiving enquiries from Australia and the United States. We do want to get a foothold there one day, although we are now in the first instance fully engaged in building a select European partner network, which we can support well thanks to our broad know-how and experience." The Hub
Liquidfloors is one of the partners of The Hub - a partner showroom for innovative, high-end interior and architectural brands - in Antwerp and Ghent, reaching more and more architects and specifiers. It is also investing heavily in its headquarters in Zwevegem. "Together with project developer Hexagon from Roeselare, we are creating Park Apart here, which will house 22 SME units alongside our new branch. Here we are also training installers in the Liquid Academy," Miguel Garcia says.
